| Cremation
Ground is an exploration of the personal and cultural psychological
landscape. A particular interest is taken in the erosion of
this landscape through man made and naturally occurring catastrophe.
It is meditation upon, and veneration of decay. Modern western
senses revile immersion in this sort of contemplation, much
less being slightly uncomfortable for any length of time. Cremation
ground, and the accompanying visual and sonic expressions promote
the disruption of this flaccid and artificial state of complacency.
The
emblem for these excursions is the cremation ground - that of
the eastern tradition. Not only a common place for disposal
of the dead - fringe and forbidden vedics often worship there.
Through embrace of these places of ultimate destruction disciples
of the black mother and dancing father seek a new element of
universal and self awareness. |
